McVilly Cider Rider
A one day riding experience which takes in the beautiful southern Tasmania coast line and ends in majestic Huonville. Fully supported ride that also stops at two of Australias best Cider Houses.
Depart Hobart 9am
The ride starts with some good coffee before heading off down past the shot tower and down through the scenic outlooks of tinderbox. There is a follow car and support staff to make sure you are looked after at every moment.
The Huon Valley has grown the best apples on the planet for over 100 years and from the best apples comes the best cider. Our first stop is Pagan Cider in Cygnet where we will stop for a tasting and a rest before continuing on along the Huon River. Pagan Cider will not only introduce you to their flagship range of Apple, Pear and Cherry but also let you try some small batch and mysterious concoctions to make the next leg of the ride float along!
The Ride continues into Huonville as it winds along with amazing views of orchards, wineries and the river. Our Lunch stop is at Willie Smith Apple Shed. An award winning cidery and apple museum where again you will be treated to a tasting and a gorgeous farmhouse spread of Tassie produce. Also housed in the shed is the gleaming copper goodness of the Charles Oats still. Its purpose built to make apple brandy… may as well try some of that too!
Ride or Relax
After lunch you have a choice. You can enjoy a few more ciders and get the courtesy bus back to Hobart that has room for your bike or you can continue on the long climb up over the side of Mt Wellington. We tip our hat to either option!
